Talk:AM
I actually wrote a mail to AM, where I said how impressed I was over his PCB Lunatic endeavors and some other things. He replied with this:
こんなにメールを受けるのは初めてですね. メールはよく受けました! ありがとうございます! 心が急で 地をするために 永Exをまともにできなかったんですが, 後で必ずするつもりです。 妖Lunaはまだあきらめたのではなく保留です。w 直葬日が忙しいが少し無理するようにしても熱心にするでしょう。 楽しい一日を!
With some help of a Japanese-speaking friend (as well as the ocn.ne.jp service), I managed to decipher the meaning, which suggests the Luna30 challenge isn't dead yet. He seems to be a nice and cheerful fellow, too. — moozooh 17:36, 19 October 2008 (UTC).
- AM is quite a respectable person. I've posted several times on his blog now, and he personally responds to every comment. I've seen him on his competitors' blogs congratulating them for their achievements. Today, he wrote the following to me:
ありがとうございます! それでも 39億までは続くつもりです。 いくら見ても 40億は新しいパターンが必要のようです。
"Thank you! I will continue to aim for 3.9 billion. It looks like a new pattern [scoring route/strategy] will be needed to break 4 billion."
Well, his 3.85 billion run already seemed so "perfect" that there isn't much room for improvement. But based on the quality of his Extra runs, anything is possible from this guy...

- A bit of a change of plan...
Watching Doraemon's 1.082 billion Ex replay, I saw that he had 3M more points than I did going into Koishi's battle. With enough graze, I believe 1.1 billion is possible. I am putting my Lunatic 3.9B project on hold for a bit, to see what I can do on Extra. 67.164.3.21 12:34, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- I had a brief discussion with AM regarding his new 4B play. I suggested that he make the following improvements to his current run to accumulate more graze:
- Orin's Needle Mountain spellcard: bomb 3x and reduce power to 1.00; this adds 1500 graze
- Reiuzi's first normal attack: bomb 2-3x and reduce power to 2.00 or 1.00; this adds 2500-5000 graze
- Reiuzi's third normal attack: bomb all the way down to 1.00 to add another 5000 graze
Once the graze counter reaches 89,900, the multiplier maxes out to x9.99. At that point, any additional graze points no longer contribute to the score.
In response, AM has come up with the following graze "targets" to be attained at the conclusion of each stage:
- Stage 2: 35K
- Stage 3: 46K
- Stage 4: 59K
- Stage 5: 73K
- Stage 6: 89.9K
The conclusion: 4.2B may be possible.
His next project is 1.1B on Extra, but I think he will be back on Lunatic very shortly. ;) 67.164.3.21 11:08, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
What happened?
AM has deleted all of his replays from Royalflare (including his really old replays for IN and PCB), and has shut down his blog. There's only a "closed" (閉めます) message on it, and nothing remains.
Any idea what happened? Last week, he was still going on about aiming for 1.1 billion in SA Extra. 76.126.66.123 07:57, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- So, I sent him a mail, and this was the reply:
- 最近職場仕事がたくさん混乱して心苦しいです。
- 東方をする時間がないのではないが, 現在は scoreboard活動を中止したいですね。
- そして blogと HP 二つとも運営をするには無理です。
- HPをいかして工事を終わらせた後今後に公開するつもりです。
- あまり心配しないでください。
- Couldn't fully decipher it as of this point, but I guess he got a little busy with life and will be back in the foreseeable future. — moozooh 12:10, 20 November 2008 (UTC).
- Recently, work has been chaotic.
- I haven't had time to play Touhou, so I'd like to stop my activities on the scoreboards.
- Hence, it is meaningless to run my blog and homepage right now.
- Once my work is finished, I will reopen my homepage.
- Please don't worry.
- There you go. BTW, most of these TH veterans are working men, not sit-at-home, game-24/7, unemployed bums. So the fact that they can balance out their competitive TH life with their day jobs is quite an achievement. 76.126.66.22 21:49, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, that's not anything new. It's relatively easy to track working members of the scoreboards by noting times of the day at which they usually submit their scores. For AM, it's ~22:30 to ~2:30, which pretty much nails it. — moozooh 22:06, 20 November 2008 (UTC).
