Talk:Curiosities of Lotus Asia/Chapter 15
"If you can't beat them... coil in them!"
The original was a Japanese proverb that literally means “Coil around big things.” The meaning is basically the same as the Western proverb – that is, that one should rather join the stronger side and take advantage of its strength instead of fighting it. --Nietz 22:01, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Tsurube-otoshi, meaning something like “falling like a bucket”, is Japanese expression referring to something that falls suddenly and fast. It’s also the name given to a type of youkai that lurks in the treetops to either fall upon an unsuspecting passerby or drop fire or buckets on him. They are represented in the Touhou cast by Kisume. --Nietz 22:01, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
