Talk:Immaterial and Missing Power/Afterword

I'd like to start translating this IaMP afterword, both for myself and for Touhou Wikia. But how do I reformat it so it follows like a game script? Or at least put the English side by side with the Japanese. As it currently stands all the English will be below the Japanese. When this matter is resolved I'll begin translating. Thanks in advance. There is a good reason that only texts in a timed context(game scripts and song lyrics) follow the side by side setup, and the reason is tables being generally a huge pain in the ass for the editor. Any afterword texts or official fiction you'll find in the format shown here. You'll understand when you try formatting your own table sometime~ --Umhyuk 01:53, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Fixed-width font and prevention of line wrapping are needed to preserve the text's format. Therefore, putting the original and translated text side-by-side would make for a rather tight fit, even with my resolution of 1366x768.

If you use tables like regular game script, then you encounter the problem that cells can't be any narrower than the longest non-wrappable sequence (text/images/whatever), which is pretty long when you disallow line wrapping. This causes the table to excede the side of the page, because content within the cell can't be moved around, and moving the cell to a new line would mean moving it to a new row. (screenshot) Incidentally, this is why those Sword of Hisou pictures were exceding the page boundary for Dandan550.

The current format has quite an amount of precedent for translation of .txt files, and it serves its purpose well, so I suggest sticking with it. --TheSinnerChrono 02:06, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
