Resummarization Attempts

What follows are attempts to re-summarize the characters to expand the amount of gametime it covers and generally be more 'fair' to the characters by finding reasons to use everyone. Hopefully these come off as neutral, but it's sometimes hard to be that way about certain characters. Please add in any comments you have to a new line -following- the proposed description, instead of just editing it flat out, and feel free to sign your comments, too.! --Garlyle 20:00, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Kaguya Houraisan

Useful on both the offense and support, Kaguya's versatility and strength can prove a great boon to your party. For starters, she packs several different elemental spells which carry defense-ignoring properties, including the powerful (and expensive) Hourai Barrage, which can deal huge damage to anything vulneurable to them thanks to her excellent MAG stat, and even if they're not weak to anything they should still be suffering reliable damage. Secondly, Buddha's Stone Bowl is one of the best spells to back up characters with high power, long delay nukes, such as Yuugi, Suwako, or Nitori - it not only instantly restores their active gauge to full to allow them an extra shot, but also boosts all of their stats, allowing them to do even better with the second round! However, Kaguya isn't without her flaws - low HP and DEF make her extremely vulneurable to physical attacks (Although the best overall affinity set and high MND definitely give her resilience to magic, just watch for ailments), and she is a bit on the slow-and-long-delay side herself. Despite those, she can and will prove her usefulness, especially as her SP costs become less and less of a problem.

Yukari Yakumo

Packing both survivability and one of the most incredible support spells in the game, Yukari is definitely worth looking into. For starters, she boasts above-average defensive stats, especially for ailments and affinities, which makes her very solid. Her MAG stat is decent as well, although it's offset by her incredibly slow levelling rate and generally low damage formulas, meaning you shouldn't expect much damage unless Shikigami happens to be in the right conditions, in which case it will do surprisingly reliable damage. You can still use her to attack, however, as Mesh of Light and Darkness combines PAR and a decent speed debuff to help keep enemies from acting. Where she really shines is with Yukari's Spiriting Away, however, which instantly fills up the gauge of the other three characters in your active party in return for an obscenely restrictive SP cost and leaving Yukari's gauge empty. When backing up a party carrying long-delay spells, a properly timed Spiriting Away can save you a huge amount of wait time, and even if it's not perfect, a character who didn't need the extra turn can swap the empty-gauge Yukari out. Still, even if she can't, she does carry her own copy of Reimu's defensive buffing, which is useful in its own respect, and can let Reimu focus on healing.

Rinnosuke Morichika

MANnosuke boasts impressive stats in anything and everything, although he's not quite perfect. For starters, his stats aren't quite as excellent as they look once put into practice - he gains levels slower than any other character in the game, so it's not quite as stellar as it might first look. Secondly, slightly subpar attack formulas make his capability as a nuker less than others, although he's still quite capable on offense, and not lacking in speed like many of them. Still, having no major weakness definitely helps Rinnosuke out, and he can play nearly any role - tank, trash clearer, boss attacker, or even support, thanks to World-Shaking Military Rule. Be careful using it, however - although it instantly maxes out the party's offensive and defensive stats, it reduces him to 0 TP and 0% active gauge, meaning Rinnosuke can't switch out after using it and will need some time to recover, and even once the boost wears off or his SP runs thin (Which is likely to happen), you still won't be able to just swap him back out, he's on the field to stay - although some find his high speed makes him a good swapper once that happens. If you can handle that, Rinnosuke can more than prove himself capable of saving Gensokyo.

Kaguya: should also mention her subpar ailment resistances make her dangerous to keep out against some enemies.

Yukari: Spiriting Away is less about lining it up perfectly with a bunch of nukes (personally, I never was able to do that except at the beginning of a fight, where I knew exactly when everyone was going to act), and more about just getting one or two. Even if you hit someone whose turns aren't particularly useful like Tenshi, she can just switch the 0% Yukari out.

Rinnosuke: He's actually a very good trash clearer with some TP boosts, and unlike a lot of other characters that are good in random battles he won't die easily either. Maybe mention that he functions very similarly to Remilia in boss fights, (he's tanky, fast so he can switch a lot, and if nobody needs to be switched he can just attack for good damage).
