Talk:Lyrics: 最速最高シャッターガール

Hm, is this translation an official one or something? I'm no master of the Japanese language, but it looks quite strange in many places such as

"Your skill and speed are the envy of Everyone you know, so don't look back Reduce everything into a blur! " which doesn't seem to match up with the actual Japanese at all.

It sounds a lot more like

"Until you become a figure anyone would envy, leave everything behind in the dust"...

And there are more lines like this that look like they aren't actual real translations... So, what's the source of the translation? Or is it just my japanese knowledge that is lacking? --85.227.201.81 10:36, December 18, 2009 (UTC)

There is no official translation; this is all my work. Your Japanese knowledge isn't lacking at all, but I never intended on translating it verbatim. It would've been really boring to translate and read, in my opinion. That's why I implemented a rhyme scheme and used words that fit the rhythm of the song better, including the syllable count. For example, if you replaced my lines with your lines, the syllable stresses wouldn't feel right, it wouldn't rhyme ('dust' doesn't rhyme with 'stronger'), and there wouldn't be enough syllables to go with notes in the song. Sure, that means it won't be a word-for-word translation, but as long as the meaning behind the original lyrics is present, it should be fine. It takes a little more work and finesse, but I think it makes it a lot more fun for people not familiar with the Japanese language. NForza 11:16, December 18, 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I kinda figured it was something like that. Kinda feels like the meaning is lost too much though. Think anyone would be opposed to having alternative translations where less liberties have been taken on here? Or would that perhaps be too much information? I'm not trying to say the way you've translated it is wrong - there's definitely a valid reason for doing it that way, I'm just not a big fan of it myself. Would you mind if another, more literal, translation is put up as well? I'm positively in love with this song, so it bugs me enough that I'm going to try a literal translation of it myself, and if you don't mind then I figure it wouldn't hurt to share it. If you do mind, then never mind, forget I said anything ^^ --85.227.201.81 12:20, December 18, 2009 (UTC) (Aku, btw)
I'm in love with the song too, and that's why I couldn't just give it a literal translation. But hey, it's a wiki, so you can do whatever you want. I don't really know the protocol for having two sets of translations for a song here though, since I imagine this is a unique case. I guess the only real problem would be in how to arrange it on the page. NForza 12:48, December 18, 2009 (UTC)
Huh, I guess I'll see if I can find someone with a good idea on how to do it this evening then. Fly high~--85.227.201.81 13:12, December 18, 2009 (UTC)
Could something like this Possibly work?
最速最高シャッターガール The Fastest, Highest Shutter Girl
Arrange: myu314 Vocal: ビートまりお

Romaji

English

NForza Stylized translation

Doesn't have to be with that wording. Just wanted to give a general idea. !8RstuPId2Y 20:53, December 18, 2009 (UTC)
