Dragons vs The Dragon

There is the description about Dragon like "strongest" or "highest-order gods". It's the translation of "最高神". But I have a wonder; Is "最高神" the only one, as the God in Cristianity or Zeus in Greek mythology, isn't it? Literally, "最高" means "the most extremely"+"high", or "the highest". And maybe Japanese people think "最高" is only one, not more than two. I'll give you a similar case for example. Most Japanese students under cumpulsory education are puzzled when they see a phrase like this, "he is one of the best basebll players". Why? Because the translation of "the best" is "最良" and a word containing "最" suggests it is one, not more than two. It may be also a reason that superlative is translated into "最上級", which contains "最". From the similar view, I supposed there is the only one dragon in Gensoukyou and I wonder it's a better to translate as "the dragon", although there is no description like that by ZUN and it's not suitable for a polytheistic view of the world. --Masuo64 11:43, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
