Talk:Sakuya Izayoi

From Touhou Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Sakuya serves Patchouli tea (Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red), and Patchouli has full authority to command her without having to run it by Remilia, first (Silent Sinner in Blue, Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, etc) as well as berate/chastise her (IaMP). So Patchouli should be listed as a relationship, too. Although I'm not exactly sure what you call that relationship. "Mistress' Friend", while technically true, doesn't really capture the essence of the fact that on the chain of command, Patchouli is clearly Sakuya's superior.

However, Patchouli being Sakuya's "Mistress Friend" at least has more weight and is more deserving of being labelled a relationship than Flandre being "Mistress' Sister". While we've seen many times when Patchouli and Sakuya have interacted, there isn't a single case in any official work where Sakuya has ever interacted with Flandre. In fact, there isn't even any proof that Flandre is aware of Sakuya's existence at all. Flandre almost certainly is, of course, but the point here is that there are MANY instances in official works where Sakuya and Patchouli definately have a relationship (in this case, Patchouli being another boss of Sakuya's), while there isn't a single instance anywhere of Flandre even mentioning Sakuya (though Remilia talked about Flandre with Sakuya in IN, at least. That's as far as we've ever seen, though)

Therefore, it is kinda odd that Flandre is deserving of being listed as a relationship to Sakuya just for being "Mistress' sister", while Patchouli, who clearly has legal authority over Sakuya (within the EoSD's chain of command) and exercises it throughout official works, isn't there at all.

Again, though, I'm not sure exactly what you'd call that relationship. "Superior" would technically fit, I suppose, but seems a bit too vague by itself, especially since Remilia is obviously the top superior. For similar reasons, referring to Mei Ling as "subordinate" feels rather 'off', too.

(about the Mei Ling comment in the above, Sakuya appears to have authority over Mei Ling (she gives Mei Ling orders on occassion in the various Three Fairy mangas), although this might not really warrant mention in her relationships section.)

Also, in this relationship matter, Eirin Yagokoro should remain as an unknown relationship to Sakuya. This is because in her official profile, it states "Eirin is very surprised to see Sakuya, but only Eirin knows the reason why." Even if it is unknown, there is a relationship. If you have a really good reason to change it, please post below this comment with proof that there is a relationship or not. I hope this clears this matter to a few who have been removing this.

Remi's Comment in EoSD[edit]

So Remilia calls Reimu a 'murderer' and talks about Sakuya as though she were dead before her fight. Is this a problem in the translation or did ZUN just decide Sakuya would be too popular to kill off? --Wererat42 18:49, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

The general consensus is that it was a joke. —Kimiko 05:09, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
EoSD has many of such dialogue, quite odd jokes. --Masuo64 05:15, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

On the Care and Feeding of Scarlet Devils[edit]

Since Remilia and Flandre are vampires, how exactly would one prepare food (aka blood) for them? -- 19:32, 11 October 2007 (PDT)

I imagine one finds some donors - willing or unwilling - and uses their blood as an ingredient in whatever dishes one prepares. (Luceid 06:00, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Luceid)

Sakuya's (Alleged) Pads[edit]

No mention of pads? Where exactly did the padded bra joke originate?

I'm firmly in the belief that Sakuya, along with Reisen wear panties and not bloomers, given how modern their fashion is

Look at the pictures of her in Imperishable Night & IaMP. The cheast of former is like a very flat board, but that of the latter is two temptating mountains. That had some people make the setting that she used the padded bra. Of course some radical Sakuyaists refused it. They announced in some time that it's a ZUN's gift to enjoy both of her, and they in another time that it's because of the influence of perspective (mistake of eyes) so her chest is in fact flat/big. Anyway, this is unconstructive & non-delicate.
And I agree to your view about Sakuya & Udonge. The setting lets our dreams wide.

I hate to shatter your dreams, but Udonge wears bloomers. They can be seen at various points in Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth.

Take heart, though; Sakuya's still an unknown. Also, Yukari wears stockings, and while I could be wrong, those seem somewhat incompatible with bloomers. Also, Sanae is a modern girl; she may wear panties.

Also, discussions about chest size and panties are always constructive.(Luceid 06:00, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Luceid)

Luna Dial[edit]

Does it ever show sakuya with the luna dial in cannon work or is it just fannon?

Yeah, it's canon; you can see it in her portrait in Imperishable Night. --ArseneLupin3 23:53, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
It's kinda odd that that is the only time it shows up. In truth i was looking for more concrete proof. A picture with her having a pocket watch only proves that she has a pocket watch not that it has any power.

"According to ZUN"[edit]

Okay, where and when exactly did ZUN say that Eirin was "surprised" to see her in IN? —Kimiko 04:44, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

On the Character Setting text of IN. --Masuo64 05:32, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Sakuya's theme[edit]

Had you guys wondered about Sakuya's theme in Phantasmagoria of Flower View? I never thought it will be popular as good music for other fan-made videos. What you think? -11:58, September 4, 2009 (Talk)

Actually, what makes me wonder is why ZUN decided to make an entirely new theme song for her in the first place, to be honest. Although, now that I do think of it, I've seen an uncountable amount of videos (not necessarily Touhou-related) that had the song as its background music. I'm not sure this is liable to put in the fun facts section, though. --ArseneLupin3 13:58, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

The answer on Sakuya's dissappearnce on U.F.O[edit]

I was having some random research... and checking to other artist on their react on Sakuya's disappearance on the game... I never thought of this but. When i played her "last" appearance as a playable character I saw something shocking... reading her ending script is really shocking. -Dandan550 11:21, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Dude, what exactly happens then? I haven't completed the game but now I really want to know... ~~Takoto 11:27, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Play the game for yourself. Since there is the English translated patch, it might help you read the ending... -Dandan550 05:38, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
I played, got to ending no. 3 (a while ago) and nothing really seems to hint at her disappearance in the future games.... ~~Takoto 23:03, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
Geez you didn't understand. Read it all over again, carefully. Even in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody Sakuya ignore the incident until her mistress ordered her. -Dandan550 05:46, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
"With an incident of this degree, things should work out if it was left up to the shrine maiden.

This was the shrine maiden's job, and she, being a maid, felt that this was none of her business."--Invaderhado 14:11, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

That's very true. Since the ones made the meme/theory don't realize this until someone tell them or they find it. -Dandan550 14:29, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

sakuya in ufo[edit]

sakuya is playable in ufo. i mean.... just.... LOOK: [1] --Pokemon-man

If you watched the whole thing, at the end, Suwako and Youmu show up to tell the viewer that this was just a video created by someone who wanted to see Sakuya in UFO and that it's all a fake. !8RstuPId2Y 18:24, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

Oh..... ummmm..... whoops XD.... --Pokemon-man

I was playing Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, and I recall that Sakuya mentioned in her route that she is a "Part-time resolver of incidents". Should this be included under 'Occupation' for her? Rednal29 21:24, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Probably not, as she was probably saying that jokingly as a reference to how strange incidents in Gensokyo are referred to as, well, incidents. --ArseneLupin3 20:45, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

Since it was removed once, I do want to comment on why 「犬咲夜」 is significant. Simple answer: Google search. I have seen the hiragana more often, but a google search for ”犬咲夜” (with quotes around it) actually gave more more results for the Kanji name.--Tosiaki 07:47, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Does anyone know how to type in 「咲夜」?[edit]

Does anyone know how the hell you type in 「咲夜」? I keep on having to type in "saku [backspace] yoru" to give me 「咲夜」 which is not the way people do it in Japan, I suspect. I don't really know how to use Microsoft IME so well.--Tosiaki 07:48, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Speculation on the puzzling character[edit]

Everything under "A Puzzling Character" is indeed a bit of a stretch on speculation. It needs trimming. Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 05:03, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps it could all be moved to become a subcategory of the trivia section. I do not exactly think it would be a good idea to move the "vampire hunter theory" section to the story section, as its level of confirmation is pretty much the same as the other two. Yet, I do think that all three do need mentions on the character page, since they are strongly associated with Sakuya, much more so than any other character with mysterious pasts (for example, Alice). As for what needs trimming, I think that it is the section, "additional notes" in "Lunarian Sakuya Theory" since right now, it is a somewhat miscellaneous assortment of facts.--Tosiaki 06:15, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Not being a Time Manipulator[edit]

This claim I've been looking at the WaHH Pages related to it but the way it's brought up doesn't make sense and completely contradicts pretty much everything we've seen of her both in games and other works.

The context is that Sakuya's being accused of kidnapping humans for the SDM by Reimu and seemed to be VERY hasty to get Reimu off the case. Is it likely that Sakuya was lying to ensure that she couldn't at all be the suspect they wanted before quickly point to another possible suspect? Zelinko (talk) 01:35, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

I agree, this should have had a discussion when it was more relevant as it just retcons every thing we've known about her. Icey (talk) 08:23, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
