Music Influences

Are we allowed to add music influences to the games? MaronaPossessed 23:12, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

What do you have in mind? It might be interesting. — moozooh 00:46, April 21, 2010 (UTC).
A couple I found...

For Himorogi, Burn in Violet:
Inspiration:Decisive Battle from FF6
The Song from SoEW:Himorogi, Burn in Violet

Patchouli's theme uses various instruments from the Seiken Densetsu Series

I move to strike this. While all the other musical influences are from Zun covering a portion of another work, this is him simply using similar instrument samples. That is to say, the other influences are apparent whereas this is a hunch, since even if similar samples were used it could still be coincidence. This would have to be substantiated (an entire game series is too generic a reference) and the connection would have to be obvious. All the other musical references here are spot-on though, so I thought it better to type this out rather than edit the main page... even though I'm not hearing a blatant connection (I've heard a few SoM and SD3 tracks). --K.B. 22:43, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

For Maple Wise:
Inspiration:The Final Decisive Battle from Lufia(Estopolis Series)
They make arrangements in the later Lufia Games. This is from the first one.
The Song from MS: Maple Wise

Wow, that's cool. Things like that are very welcome! — moozooh 23:21, May 1, 2010 (UTC).
Thanks^^ It's weird. It's these games that were in my childhood and when I heard these music pieces in the pc98 games, it reminded me of these and had similarities to them.MaronaPossessed 23:30, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

SA Music Lullaby of Deserted Hell confirmed. Mike Oldfield's music sounds too peaceful, but the beat is noticeable in Lullaby of Deserted Hell. Nice find! His song is beautiful btw :).

For Lullaby of Deserted Hell:
Inspiration: Song of the Sun by Mike Oldfield
The Song from SA: Lullaby of Deserted Hell
MaronaPossessed 23:37, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

EoSD Remilia's Theme confirmed. The beginning of the third movement is similar to her theme. Yes, it counts:P

I always thought it reminded me of Scarborough Fair. - Kiefmaster99 07:17, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

For Septette for the Dead Princess
Inspiration: Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique 3rd movement
The Song from EoSD Septette for the Dead Princess
MaronaPossessed 22:34, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

For Flowering Night
Inspiration?: Iron Maiden's The Trooper
The song from PoFV: Flowering Night
I hear some similarities in Flowering Night's beginning and refrain. Am I just forcing myself too?!8RstuPId2Y 01:11, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

A little bit I can see but still...I'm in a yes or no scenario myself as well. (we should get some people's opinions on this too)MaronaPossessed 01:45, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
Really forcing it imo. Start tone + progression is different, Trooper's first four pairs of meters goes --_- While Flowering night goes _/_/ And if it is the "tone twirl"(don't know the musical term for it) you find similar, you might as well include most of the classical compositions too.--Umhyuk 02:09, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
Oh... It has some similarities, but I think this is just assumption. (listening to the Carmageddon 2 OST ... [OFF] I had an illegal copy of Carma2, where this music track had a crack about 2:15 to 3:10, and I was very very happy, to get an original copy (was hard to find) and guess what: it has small scratches in that intervall, and a big one in 3:04 ... bad_luck.flac [/OFF] [ Dr. Anonymous (2010.06.14. - 01:26) ]

For Green-Eyed Jealousy:
Inspiration: Greensleeves (I don't know how much variance there is between versions. This is just the version I'm most familiar with)
The song from SA: Green-Eyed Jealousy
The overall construction is similar, which you can hear from the start (Green-Eyed Jealousy, Greensleeves) and most noticeably at 35 seconds in (Green-Eyed Jealousy, Greensleeves). It's not note-for-note of course, but my inspiration sense is definitely tingling. I also have untrained ears, so feel free to remove this from the main page you aren't hearing it or think the connection isn't strong enough. K.B. 04:10, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

For Angel's Legend:
Inspiration: Heart of Fire from Castlevania
The song from HRtP: Angel's Legend
Start of Angel's Legend, about seven seconds into Heart of Fire. K.B. 02:46, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

For Rigid Paradise:
Inspiration: Genesis' Land of Confusion
The song from TD: Rigid Paradise
Compare the refrains: about 1:00 into Land of Confusion and 0:49 into Rigid Paradise. I'm not going to add this to the main page because I don't know if this goes beyond coincidental likeness to actual influence, but feel free to add it if you want. I mainly wanted to make it so anyone checking this would be unable to unhear it.K.B. (talk) 23:46, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

While I am not really able to explain how it for me sounds different, I do know it is. And as I do not know how to use a note properly, I am going to explain it in a really weird way, so take the bottom row letters of your keyboard (Z to M). Rigid Paradise goes like "MNBVCXC". While Land of Confusion goes like "MNBVBCV". Hope it explains at least something, lol. ☢ Quwanti 00:14, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

For History of the Moon:
Inspiration: Aphrodite by S.E.N.S
The Song from IN: History of the Moon

For Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon:
Inspiration: Cello Suite No.6 V-Gavotte by Johann Sebastian Bach
The Song from IN: Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon

For Love-colored Master Spark:
Inspiration: Saria's Song from Zelda Ocarina of Time
The Song from IN: Love-colored Master Spark

For Nostalgic Blood of the East ~ Old World:
Inspiration: 学生街の喫茶店 by Garo
The Song from IN: Nostalgic Blood of the East ~ Old World

For Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial:
Inspiration: Sand Triangle from Megaman Zero 2
The Song from EoSD: Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial

As I know, Megaman zero 2 was 2003 released and EoSD released on 2002. Maybe this wasn't inspiratied cuz EoSD was first. ( sry for bad eng ) cmb3318 17:48, 29 April 2017. (UTC)

For Strawberry Crisis!!:
Inspiration: Flame Stagger Stage from Megaman X2
The Song from PoDD: Strawberry Crisis!!

For Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion:
Inspiration: Hall of the mountain king (Edvard Grieg) by Apocalyptica
The Song from PoDD: Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion

How many of these (and those already added to the page) are coincidences instead of actual influences? ☢ Quwanti 10:40, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
In the page, in what I have added, the only I'm not sure is for Patchouli theme but the similarity is very disturbing, others from me there is not doubt, but sometimes it is possible the influence come from an other song, a melody very famous (like Puck by Edvard Grieg). I have analysed as I can all music I have post (simultaneously, slowed, accelerated, etc), I don't think there are coincidences, this corresponds many, there are for example sometimes a note different but the form and timming are similar and we can't doubt (like for example Cirno's theme). I have added here what I'm not sure. But, in the page, there are already some songs I don't think there are similars, like for Flandre's theme, I don't find where is similutde with title theme of the game The Immortal. TouhouMusic (talk) 15:59, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
I'll point out here that Story of Eastern Wonderland came out over a year before Ocarina of Time, so your claim that Love-Coloured takes inspiration from Saria's Song is already suspect. I agree that these need to be verified before adding into the page. Arcorann (talk) 01:09, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Hello everyone, first sorry for my bad english, this is not my native language, I'm the one who posted the influence for Flandre's Theme. To be honest, I think ZUN was obviously influenced by the game The Immortal for some music like Nitori's Theme. You can find somes notes too for Flandre's theme on the Title Theme of this game, it's not a lot but I think enough for being influenced. If you think I'm wrong, so remove the Flandre part, I will understand because there aren't a lot of not, but keep please the influence for Nitori's Theme. Just to say I think a coincidence for two music on the same game doesn't exit in my opinion. Nowkjpe (talk) 21:41, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Isolated article

I found out that this article is ISOLATED by referring to "What Links Here" Special page, mind to put in Main Page? — KyoriAsh 08:38, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

I'll put it in Random Things for now. MaronaPossessed 16:35, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Gameplay Elements Influences

I compared Marisa's bomb in Mystic Square and the Fighter B's bomb in Dangun Feveron and they are pretty much similar when executed (Thin laser that shoots vertically straight up right in front of the user and follows the user around if he/she moves). --ZEROGRAVITY-A01 00:50, 16 January 2012 (UTC) That's about as generic a bomb as you can get.Flan27 (talk) 00:51, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Wondering if we should put comparison screenshots. --ZEROGRAVITY-A01 (talk) 07:36, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
