Characters' Name[edit]

Well, not following what is stated in Omake.txt? - KyoriAsh 07:05, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

What? --T. Solamarle 08:29, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, you know, the Romanization vs Omake.txt name... Not only me, but others also started the edit wars about the names such as Hijiri vs Hiziri... - KyoriAsh 08:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

It's about time we decided once and for all whether we want to use Hepburn or Kunrei-shiki to romanize character names. Currently on the Characters page, all of the characters' names are Hepburn except for Momizi and Shikieiki, and the usage isn't even consistent (Inubashiri instead of Inubasiri). -- SuddenFrost 09:30, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Huh, Momiji is up as Momizi? I'll be damned. I vote Hepburn - it's what I've been doing consistently, and I've been doing it on the auspice that it will give people a better chance of pronouncing it in a fashion that will at least resemble something correct. (Shiki is a fun exception, though - her name in Western order would be Eiki Shiki, title Yamaxanadu, so I have no idea what an optimal article title would be.) It looks like at the moment we have:
but:
Hepburn has the most precedent at this point (though I made one of those articles, so for the sake of fairness we can say it's tied).
It's also worth pointing that ZUN himself is inconsistent with romanization - I've actually had an IRC discussion that basically boiled down to, should we adopt a consistent romanization scheme, or should we just copy-paste whatever ZUN uses? I prefer consistency that will give Westerners a better idea how to pronounce the names, personally, but let's actually have the discussion. --T. Solamarle 09:53, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
For me, I usually refer to Hiragana such as つ (TSU)、づ (DU)、じ (JI)... - KyoriAsh 10:30, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
There's one other character article whose name is in Kunrei-shiki: Sanae Kotiya instead of Sanae Kochiya. I'm thinking I should just rename Momiji, Shikieiki and Sanae's articles, make a post saying that I've done it on Talk:Characters, and anyone who doesn't like it can change them back. -- SuddenFrost 20:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
