Talk:Yamame Kurodani
"Yamame"[edit]
From the article:
"Yamame may be written as "山女" (lit. mountain girl), which refers to a mythical demon in Japanese folklore."
The problem with this is that the mentioned "Yamame", which is also known as "Yama-onna", is a half-naked blood-sucking monster in the form of a fair skinned girl with beautiful long hair, who lives in the mountains and is often described as having a long tongue.
So... Not like Yamame at all. As far as I know her name only appears in Katakana, so saying that it is "山女" seems a bit of a stretch. Anatole serial 06:49, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe it's closer to this instead lol. Look at those stripes --Tsukihime 13:44, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- Highly unlikely, and yet... So... possible... XD
- Still, out of all the possible interpretations, ZUN's official comment regarding a "Spidery Name" implies that it might just mean "Eight Eyes", with no relation to the Yama-onna kanji (Which, oddly enough, is the same Kanji as the one used for the Yamame Fish). From the article:
"Her design somewhat resembles an Argiope spider. More specifically, the "Argiope bruennichi", also known as Wasp spider."
I personally feel that she looks closer to the Meta menardi, does that make sense to anyone else? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meta_menardi Glalev (talk) 13:10, 11 September 2012 (EDT)
