ZUN at Taito[edit]

ZUN in the credits of Taito games:

Magic Pengal, EXIT: http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,123230/ Bujingai: http://www.answers.com/topic/bujingai-the-forsaken-city EXIT: http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/data/929800.html

He may very well have been involved in other Taito games. If you own recent Taito games, please search for "Junya Ota" in the credits.

There is also a rumor that he is no longer employed at Taito.

Restrictions on derivative works[edit]

I just happened across what appears to be an English translation of the conditions ZUN places on Touhou-derivative works. Seems like that ought to be added to this wiki somewhere. Any thoughts on where to put it? -Winane 07:13, 25 February 2008 (PST)

ZUN has made a recent addition to restrictions. A translation should exist for sake of reference by interested individuals. - Kiefmaster99 21:09, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Was it because KyoriAsh spammed his twitter? :D --Tsukihime 21:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

From what I can tell, the new restrictions focused on distribution, cel animation, and defamatory content (speculated to be in response to the recent Tokyo bill). I don't believe the older sections have been translated yet either, so it's something that could be done if time permits. - Kiefmaster99 21:51, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Update to Copyrights and Buying Stuff, anyone? - KyoriAsh 21:58, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, I was under the impression that the Copyrights section existed mostly for Wiki purposes (endings in particular), though we could expand that. Or create a separate page for all of ZUN's guidelines. I don't see how this would go under Buying Stuff. - Kiefmaster99 22:14, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
I believe we can include these in a separate section. However, I also believe we need to get someone who's familiar with ZUN's writing style to get a better understanding of the document and its changes. Also, check his Twitter, he has posted a couple of clarifications, which I sort of understand as they are brief (And Google Translate helps). The longer document? Don't even know how to begin. Gensokyo.org has released a translation. We could just link to that, or ask permission for use. - Kiefmaster99 05:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

New revision guideline updated, same link - KyoriAsh 09:41, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Name meaning[edit]

Can 太田順也 be translated into something else or is it just simply translated to 'Jun'ya Ota'? Just asking... ;) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 17:27, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Is that chinese/japanese/korean name meaningful? - KyoriAsh 20:34, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
May have said this wrong... In Japanese, Does this name have a meaning? Like Mima's means "charming demon" or what each character translate to. Just wondering... Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 21:10, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
It's ZUN's real name, so I think it rather lacks sense to look for its meaning. But if we are to look in it, "Oota" (太田) consists of "rich, grand" () "rice field" (), and "Jun'ya" does of "go straight" () "indeed, very much" ({{{2}}}). "" is a combination of "" (river) & "" (face), so "to direct one's own face along the river" → either "to adapt oneself to the fact" or "to look straight at the fact". About ", I wonder if 'twould be appropriate, but I couldn't make it better. Well, his family name & personal name are rather ordinary. --masuo64 Talk 17:21, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
That's why it's meaningless to comprehend his name, just like Eastern people how to comprehend western name such as "George" or "Edward" - KyoriAsh 17:45, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Interesting... Well, thanks for your time and sorry if I was wasting time here if I did. I only asked cause I'm poor at the Japanese language and I don't trust Google with it.
I was wondering if this info could be added to the page... or is it a no no...? Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 18:22, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
I think 'twouldn't be worth adding on the article; the inquiry of Japanese person's name has value only if we want the thought of the very person naming him/her. Accordingly, about Touhou, it's when we want to know the settings of a character and to love her. ZUN isn't a fiction, so adding it on the article isn't a good way. Moreover, it's my personal opinion, but I'm hesitant to list his real name. Why he made his real name in public must be because he didn't suppose he would be so famous as he is now; it was often seen at that time in order to be closer with the consumers, fans. So I guess he would never do it if he rode the time machine to go back to that time. Well, I mean, his name relating to Touhou is ZUN, not his real name. And it's quite less important than his HN, "ZUN", even if most of us already know his real name... --masuo64 Talk 18:52, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Birth date: March 14 or 18?[edit]

I've just spotted something, this shows ZUN celebrating his birthday on March 14 2010, and various sourses about ZUN on the net says he was born on March 18 1977. What is it? 14 or 18? o_0 Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 16:11, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Early celebration, that's it - KyoriAsh 21:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Oh, OK, thanks. Just got a little confused here... (lol) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 21:24, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

I not want ENDING OF GAME printed in Internet. --ZUN 2010/12/08[edit]

There is a user account called "ZUN" on a certain Touhou Ending site who is constantly posting this on the front page. Is that ZUN himself, or just some anonymous guy? If it's ZUN, then why doesn't he get that site closed or something? Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 21:20, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Hum...if thats the case, wouldn't he say something in his blog or twitter? MaronaPossessed 21:24, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

-- That's just some wannabe...

The real ZUN would've contacted us or some higher authority if he was serious about cracking down.

In that case, I'm kinda annoyed that there is someone parading around as him.

ZUN's girlfriend?[edit]

This from ZUN himself and this from Twitter. - KyoriAsh 14:48, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, someone said that his wedding feast is planned on the same date as Reitaisei. ☢ Quwanti 15:09, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
There seems to be a discussion about it here.--Tosiaki 15:23, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Awww~ Good for him~!! XD Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 16:24, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Do you think it's a good idea to change the mediawiki:sitenotice into the news regarding the wedding feast? lol --This message from DeltaSierra4 was delivered on 18:14, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

ZUN's posts from his formal blog in Mixi[edit]

Does anybody have the posts from Mixi? -- Doncot (talk) 03:09, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
