The Nightmare of Rebellion/Walkthrough/ToonoCastle

From Touhou Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Toono Castle (Entrance) (遠野城(入り口))

Your main objective is to find two keys to proceed. There are some places where you the only is a door one-way pass.

3-Door Puzzle

At one point of this dungeon, there will be a puzzle where you walk up and there are always three doors.

What you need to do here, is to find the right door and enter it. You need to do this procedure a few times, until you will be warped to another map.

When you go through the wrong door, the door will shut behind you and you cannot use the door to go back.
When you go through the right door, a sound will occur and the door does not close.

The easiest way is to simply open all three doors, without going through them. Than, go through one door, and if it is the wrong one, go through one of the other doors back and go through another door again.

Dangerous Enemies

Following Enemies are dangerous and worth to mention:

  • Elite Cockatrice (エリートコカトリス): They are very fast and can very fast petrify your whole party.

Use Mega Stroke (メガストローク) to quickly kill it, optionally in combination with First Strike (ファーストストライク), so that it has no chance to act.

  • Hippothight (ヒッポタイト): They can also petrify you, but are slower and weak against fire and slash.
  • Manuscript (マニュスクリプト): They have very powerful physical attack, so you may want to cast Earth Wall (アースウォール) to increase your physical defense. Also they have a very high magic defense of 100, so you should better kill them with physical slash attacks.

They are a few other dangerous enemies, like Rich (リッチ), who has no weaknesses but resistance to everything but light and neutral magic, but these enemies occur very rare, so you may run away, if you encounter them.

As a side note, if you cure a character from petrification, the character sprite will not change, until it is her turn or she gets attacked.

Another Boss which has no weaknesses.

Ran uses a lot of light attribute magic, and some of them are very strong. Additionally, her physical attacks are also not to underestimate, since she can quickly kill your characters which do not have a high physical defense. She can also inflict "Blindness" and "Silence", which can be really troublesome, and her Last Word is a light attribute attack, which attacks one row and also has a dispelling effect. Even though she can dispell your abilty changes, increasing your stats stil are necessary.

Battle Strategy

  • Use Control Land (コントロールランド) to increase the dark land and decrease the light land. If darkness land is higher than light land, most of her attacks will not kill you in one attack, giving you time to recover.
  • Use Fix Land (フィクスランド) so that the land does not change anymore.

(Ran may uses Remove Field (リムーブフィールド), which removes the field effect. In this case, quickly recast Fix Land (フィクスランド) and if the light land is too high, decrease with Control Land (コントロールランド) again.)

  • OPTIONAL: Increase your physical defense and/or resistance
  • Attack with your strongest physical attacks.
  • Save your POW, by mainly using Recovery Water (回復の水) and Clearance (クリアランス).
  • Increase your accuracy and physical attack power.

(Even if she dispels your abilty changes, it is best recast them.)

If you follow these instructions, the battle should not be that dangerous. This is battle is rather a battle which will take longer, just like the battle against Chen.

After the battle, Ran will turn into a Doppel and join your party as Main Doppel.

Toono Castle (Middle) (遠野城(中間))

After defeating Ran, you will will go further into the dungeon. You will immediately get into a room with a "Yin-Yang Orb", but do not use it, since you probably have already recovered your POW and Doppel via the "Fantasy Hiemata Monument" from the previous room. Instead, use the "Yin-Yang Orb" later when you need, since the "Yin-Yang Orb" does not revive all enemy symbols in dungeon again, you can fight your way a bit free and than return here.

The complete mini-map of the dark rooms, with additional information.

The Dark Room

Just when you go left or right from the room you will come into a dark room with limited vision. A short message boxes appears, where Saya points out a glowing enemy.

This glowing enemy is very important, you cannot battle it, but if you follow the glowing enemy, you will see that it will go into some walls and opens hidden passages. (These passages are also not marked in the mini-map.) If you went left from the "Yin-Yang Orb" room, follow the glowing enemy until he enters a secret way, but do not follow him into the next room, instead wait until he comes back and re-follow him, as he will open a second passage in this room. This is the only glowing enemy which opens two secret ways in one room. Also, some passages are one-way passages, if you go through them you cannot turn back, but need to find another route back instead.

For convenience, there is also a map of the dark rooms along with the secret passages here.

This fight is really difficult, you need to defeat both in the same turn, otherwise the other one will use Fast Strike (ファストストライク) in combination with Elixir (エリクサー) to revive the fallen enemy. Since as usual each enemy is allowed to act twice per turn.

Battle Strategy

Important Equipment:

  • Equip against water attribute and darkness attribute.

Battle Strategy:

  • Use at least one skill which will increase light land and decreases darkness land.
  • Use thunder skills in order to decrease water land and increase thunder land.
  • Let your slowest character cast Fix Land (フィクスランド) to prevent the land from changing.
  • Lower Arare's HP with physical attack and Hakusen's HP with magical attack, but do not kill any of them unless you can kill both in one turn.

Measures:

  • If Hakusen cast either Magic Drain (マジックドレイン), Colloseum (コロッセオ) or Howling Spirit (ハウリング・スピリット) counter as quick as possible with Fix Land (フィクスランド).
  • If Arare uses Element Shelter (エレメント・シェルター), use Dispel (ディスペル).
  • If many of your characters have negative "Abilty Changes", especially "Water Resistance Down", use Mass Dispel (マスディスペル) on your own party, in order to remove all "Abilty Changes".

It is difficult to hit Arase with physical attacks, since she is in the back row, you may also just attack her with thunder magic, but it must be strong magic, otherwise it will deal no damage. This battle will cost a lot of patience a concentration. If you accidentally kill one boss, and the other manages to revive the defeated one, reset the game.
