Tri Focuser ~ Outside the Traditional World() (トライフォーカサー　～ Outside the Traditional World.) is a fan-made Touhou Project script for Touhou Danmakufu ph3, with gameplay in the style of Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler. It was programmed by Shijimi Nono (known for fangames Fairies of Sorcery and Spell Card Collection), as well as ido and raichu (who worked on the fangames whose characters make return appearances in Tri Focuser).

A fourth playable character and unlockable "Exhibition" mode, containing fourteen extra spells, were added in version 1.50. The latest version of the game, 1.55, adds 5 additional Exhibition spells.

Gameplay

In Tri Focuser, you can play as Aya Shameimaru, Hatate Himekaidou, or, after unlocking them, Tobiko Takatou or Momiji Inubashiri. As in Shoot the Bullet and Double Spoiler, the heroines must take pictures of various bosses and their bullet patterns while avoiding them as well. The player gains points for taking certain kinds of pictures, such as getting their player character in the shot with the boss, taking pictures of bullets primarily of a single color, or taking pictures while grazing bullets. Like in Double Spoiler, the camera's orientation can be modified: it can be either portrait or landscape, and can be changed during the game. Aya, Hatate and Tobiko also each have different camera dimensions, charge speeds and aiming mechanics. Momiji has a significantly different playstyle, with which the player clears scenes by directly attacking the boss using one of many combinations of sword techniques, in a manner reminiscent of Impossible Spell Card.

Story

The story was written by Milka Oyasu (the writer for The Last Comer, Mystical Power Plant, Riverbed Soul Saver and Book of Star Mythology). All bosses included in the game are fan characters created by Milka, most of whom feature in the aforementioned fangames.

The full version of the game features 10 songs. All are original compositions in the style of ZUN, composed by Wanwan.
