Spell Card 9 - 1
癒符「光のアルマ」 (Yufu "Hikari no Aruma")
Soothe Sign "Alma of Light"
Owner
Iesua Nazarenus
Level 9 — 1
Comment
Aya: 「アルマとは滋養や魂といった意味だそうです、いわゆる回復魔法ですね」
Hatate: 「いや、元気にはなったけどなんかカメラの電池減ってない?」
Tobiko: 「当たり判定のある弾も出てるが、平和を願う聖人らしいスペルであるな」
Momiji: (フィルムゲージだけを都合よく減らす魔法とは一体…)
Translation
Aya: "Alma" is a word that means "fostering" or "spirit soul". This is a restoration spell.
Hatate: She indeed recovered her vitality, but why'd my camera's battery go down?
Tobiko: She's firing bullets, yes, but this spell card seems more like a prayer for peace.
Momiji: (Just how does she have a magic skill that conveniently hinders camera usage...?)

Spell Card 9 - 2
「五千人を満たすメシアの飯屋」 ("Gosen-ri o Mitasu Meshia no Meshiya")
"Messiah's Mess Hall that Feeds Five Thousand"
Owner
Iesua Nazarenus
Level 9 — 2
Comment
Aya: 「代名詞とも言える大技を繰り出しました、パンを無限に増やす奇跡」
Hatate: 「まー、どこぞのインチキ手品師みたいに種も仕掛けもあるんでしょ」
Tobiko: 「失敬な、この手のは僕も実際に無から増やすから手品などせんよ?」
Momiji: (さらっと今とんでもない事言ったなこのインチキ手品師…)
Translation
Aya: This is her renowned great skill - the miracle of infinite bread.
Hatate: She's likely just using some secret stratagem, just like a particular weirdo's magic tricks.
Tobiko: How rude! My skills of materializing out objects are much more than mere magic.
Momiji: (That liar of a magician tengu just said some pretty bold words...)

Spell Card 9 - 3
「ガイウス・カッシウスの聖槍」 ("Gaiusu Kasshiusu no Seisō")
"Holy Lance of Gaius Cassius"[1]
Owner
Iesua Nazarenus
Level 9 — 3
Comment
Aya: 「聖人の血に触れたという聖遺物、ロンギヌスの槍とも言うそうですね」
Hatate: 「ロンギヌスの槍ねー、調べた所だと怪しい自称聖槍ばっからしいけど」
Tobiko: 「そんな偽物にわざわざ本物の血を与えるとは、流石の聖人魂かな」
Momiji: (血を浴びると目が良くなると聞いたが、1ミスになっただけだったな…)
Translation
Aya: It's the Lance of Longinus... a relic that touched the blood of a saint.
Hatate: The Lance of Longinus, eh... I've done some research, but as a relic with no clear origin it just seems dubious.
Tobiko: Even if it's fake, the blood of a saint was deliberately applied onto it. It gives off a saintly vibe.
Momiji: (I heard that if blood from that lance splashes your eye, your vision improves. I tried it, but all I got was a Miss...)

Spell Card 9 - 4
雷火「禍力発電」 (Raika "Karyoku Hatsuden")
Thunder Blaze "Disastrous Power Generation" [2]
Owner
Mitama Magahara
Level 9 — 4
Comment
Aya: 「この世に残した恨みから雷を発生させ、その力で電力を生み出しています」
Hatate: 「恨みは無限に尽きないんだって、まさに永久機関ってやつ?」
Tobiko: 「いつか本物の永久機関も生み出してみたいですねと言っておったね」
Momiji: (これは永久機関と言うよりただの自作自演だからな…)
Translation
Aya: She generates power with the resentment left on this Earth, and generates electricity with it.
Hatate: Could endless resentment be the so-called perpetual motion machine?
Tobiko: She did once muse about wanting to "create a real perpetual motion machine" in the future.
Momiji: (This is less of a perpetual motion machine and more of a self-powered one...)

Spell Card 9 - 5
借物「天星弓フェイルノート」 (Karimono "Tensei-yumi Feirunooto")
Borrowed Item "Heavenly Star Bow: Failnaught" [3]
Owner
Mitama Magahara
Level 9 — 5
Comment
Aya: 「天に住まう琴の奏者から借りた名弓らしいですよ」
Hatate: 「いやちょっと待てって、詩人なんだから琴の方を借りなよ」
Tobiko: 「歴史家の解釈だと、完璧超人の彼女も琴だけは苦手だったと言うんだよね」
Momiji: (その前にだ…誰か琴の奏者が名弓を持ってる事に突っ込まないのか…)
Translation
Aya: She borrowed this heavenly bow from that star spirit.
Hatate: She's a poet, right? Why didn't she borrow that star spirit's harp instead?
Tobiko: Historians believe that despite her apparent omnipotence, she was bad at handling the harp.
Momiji: (Before all that, shouldn't we first consider why a poet would even need a bow and arrow...?)

Spell Card 9 - 6
「風光早歳の白き梅花」 ("Fūkōsōsai no Hakibaika")
"White Plum Blossoms, Blooming Beautifully at the Year's Start" [4]
Owner
Mitama Magahara
Level 9 — 6
Comment
Aya: 「春の花を雪の比喩に使うとは、伝説の詩人の感性はやはり凄いものです」
Hatate: 「本当に冬って感じの厳しさだよ、スペル宣言の前に被弾するじゃんこれ」
Tobiko: 「宣言前にボムを使うとボーナスが無くなる奴も僕の解釈では無粋だな」
Momiji: (そのボムすら使えない…なぜ撮影しない私までがこんな仕様に…)
Translation
Aya: She used falling snow as a metaphor for the plum blossoms of spring. A poet truly has a way with words.
Hatate: It feels like facing a bitter, extreme winter... One can get hit by bullets even before she declares her spell card.
Tobiko: In a proper duel, you'd lose the score bonus if you bombed before the spell card declaration. How unamusing...
Momiji: (I can't use bombs, and I have no camera, so why am I suffering the same treatment...?)

Spell Card 9 - 7
桃符「果汁93%のジュース (はらのなかがとうげんきゅう) (Momofu "Kajū Kyūjūsan-pāsento no Jūsu (Hara no Naka ga Tōgenkyū) ")
Peach Sign "93% Pure Fruit Juice ("It's A Shangri-La Palace In Your Mouth!") "[5]
Owner
Yamatoyo no Momohime
Level 9 — 7
Comment
Aya: 「自慢の桃をジュースにして売り出す事を始めるそうです」
Hatate: 「ジュースが黄色だ、桃源宮の桃は黄金色って本当だったんだ」
Tobiko: 「とりあえず黄金色ならば、無知蒙昧な民草は有難がるからな」
Momiji: (果汁ではない7%には何が含まれているというのだ…)
Translation
Aya: The Tougenkyuu seems to have introduced a new fruit juice product made with their specialty peaches.
Hatate: The juice is, like, all yellow! The Tougenkyuu truly did have golden peaches, I guess.
Tobiko: I'm sure this drink can achieve popularity among the masses just by virtue of its golden colour.
Momiji: (...Just what is in the other 7%...?)

Spell Card 9 - 8
神器「ラーの鏡」 (Shinki "Rā no Kagami")
Sacred Treasure "Ra's Mirror" [6]
Owner
Yamatoyo no Momohime
Level 9 — 8
Comment
Aya: 「ものの本で読んだ事があります、真実の姿を映し出す神鏡ですね」
Hatate: 「なるほど、真実を写すという事は古代のカメラという事ね」
Tobiko: 「僕が映されると中年親父の忍者となるのか? はは、冗談だとも」
Momiji: (ラーは異国の太陽神の筈…何故真実と結び付けられる…?)
Translation
Aya: I've read about this. It's a divine mirror that reflects the true image of things.
Hatate: A mirror that reveals the truth... so it's like a reporter's camera from the past.
Tobiko: Will I see myself as a middle-aged ninja uncle, then? Ah, I jest, I jest.
Momiji: (Ra is the Egyptian god of the Sun, so what link does that have with one's true image...?)

Spell Card 9 - 9
神話難題「天岩戸の一枚天井」 (Shinwa Nandai "Ama-no-Iwato no Ichimai Tenjō")
Legendary Impossible Request "Seamless Ceiling of Ama-no-Iwato" [7]
Owner
Yamatoyo no Momohime
Level 9 — 9
Comment
Aya: 「もうやめて下さい(泣)」
Hatate: 「もう見たくない(涙)」
Tobiko: 「なんという凶悪な…これが噂に名高い一枚天井…ぐわぁー!」
Momiji: (実際の天岩戸の天井がどうだったかは定かではないがな)
Translation
Aya: Please let me go, I beg of you! *sobs*
Hatate: Please spare me from seeing this again~! *tears*
Tobiko: Such an unfathomable ferociousness... So this, this is the fabled 'Seamless Ceiling'! Uwah!
Momiji: (How the actual ceiling of Ama-no-Iwato was is something that is still uncertain.)

Spell Card 9 - 10
悪魔「デカラビアンローズ」 (Akuma "Dekarabianrōzu")
Demon "Decaravian Rose" [8]
Owner
Fuma Mishandra
Level 9 — 10
Comment
Aya: 「72の悪魔の一柱・デカラビアとやらを召喚して下さいました」
Hatate: 「七夕の時は魔法陣を沢山出してたけど、今回はなんか違うね」
Tobiko: 「一度に多く使役すると、魔力が足りず魔法陣の姿になるそうだ」
Momiji: (表現は困難という大人の事情という奴では…)
Translation
Aya: She's summoning Decarabia, one of the 72 demons.
Hatate: During Tanabata she unleashed all kinds of, like, magic symbols... I don't see any here, though...
Tobiko: When she handles too many demons, her insufficient magic makes them appear as those magic symbols.
Momiji: (So it's the "I can't make it look presentable enough" problem that grown-ups face, huh...)

Spell Card 9 - 11
禁呪「ギルミシャル・バルスルク」 (Kinju "Girumisharu Barusuruku")
Forbidden Spell "Girumisharu Barusuruk" [9]
Owner
Fuma Mishandra
Level 9 — 11
Comment
Aya: 「肉体が屈強になる代償に理性が失われる禁断の術とのことです」
Hatate: 「えーとさ…その屈強になった肉体で全然攻撃してなくない?」
Tobiko: 「見事な意思の力による制御だ、理性なき力は弾幕の美学にもとる」
Momiji: (いや、ならそもそも何故これ唱えた)
Translation
Aya: I believe it's a spell that sacrifices one's sense of reason to power up their body.
Hatate: But... she strengthened her body, only to not attack us with it? Why...?
Tobiko: Her strong will prevents her from lashing out physically. Brute force has no place in danmaku theatrics anyway.
Momiji: (No, really, why would anyone chant a spell like this?)
Screenshot
Spell Card 9 - 12
「マジンベネフィット」 ("Majin Benefitto")
"Majin Benefit" [10]
Owner
Fuma Mishandra
Level 9 — 12
Comment
Aya: 「生命の誕生と進化の過程を表現した弾幕だそうですが」
Hatate: 「崇高すぎてわかんない、最終鬼畜全部悪魔とかに改名しなよ」
Tobiko: 「何処かで似た弾幕を見た気がするが…はて、前世の記憶かな?」
Momiji: (動きを制限する泡が無くて良かったと…何となく思わされるな)
Translation
Aya: Danmaku that symbolizes the birth of, and evolution of, life itself.
Hatate: That's too profound. She should just name the spell something like, "Final Savage All Demons", or something.[11]
Tobiko: I can't help but find this danmaku familiar. Could it be memories from a previous life...?[12]
Momiji: (It's great that there's no bubble that restricts movement... I'm not sure why I suddenly feel this way.)[13]

Notes[edit]

  1. A reference to Muse's third phase from Banshiryuu.
  2. Pun on "火力発電" (karyoku hatsuden, 'thermal power generation'), with the kanji for "fire" (火) replaced with the similarly-pronounced kanji for "disaster" (禍).
  3. A reference to Shelia Lyrac's spellcard from Book of Star Mythology, as well as to a previous spellcard of Mitama's from Mystical Power Plant in which she "borrowed" someone else's spellcard.
  4. A reference to Sugawara no Michizane's poem Takukyo no shunsetsu (謫居春雪, lit. 'Spring snow during banishment to the country'), said to be the last poem he ever composed. The poem compares snowfall early in the year to a shower of white plum blossoms.
  5. Reference to the fan-made character Rinbokusan Sasaki's character title. Tobiko's comment refers to her unexpected popularity as well.
  6. Reference to the "Ra's Mirror" item in Dragon Quest.
  7. Reference to Kaguya Houraisan's Spell Card "Seamless Ceiling of Kinkaku-ji".
  8. In Japanese, this is a portmanteau of "Decarabia" (デカラビア) and "La Vie en rose" (ラビアンローズ).
  9. Reference to a magic spell from the series Zatch Bell!, incorporating part of the name "Mishandra".
  10. Pun on "majin" (魔人, demon) and "Marine Benefit", the final Spell Card of the Touhou fangame of the same name.
  11. This is referring to Final Savage All Voice (最終鬼畜全部声), the tenth song in COOL&CREATE's album, 東方ホムーラン.
  12. Possibly a reference to Kasumi Shindou, the Stage 4 Boss of Marine Benefit; Kasumi's ability to create illusions could most likely be considered a precursor to Tobiko's ability to manipulate the sense of presence, which is occasionally used to perform magic tricks for people.
  13. The original spell from Marine Benefit, "Marine Benefit" / "Blessings of the Sea", featured a bubble that restricted the player character's movement.
