↑ A possible parody of the video game In the Hunt, originally called "Great War Beneath the Sea" (海底大戦争) in Japanese.
↑ A possible reference to Taito's arcade game series Bubble Bobble. The attack also resembles a special move (Water Jail) belonging to the Darkstalkers character Aulbath/Rikuo.
↑ A reference to Shigeru Mizuki's 1960s manga Kappa no Sanpei (河童の三平), as well as to Kaneko's 1996 fighting game Ooedo Fight (大江戸ファイト). A kappa character in the game is named Sanpei as a reference to the manga. One of his special moves, Jet Shoot, resembles this attack.
