ULiL Translation[edit]

Greetings, Mr. Gilde. I'm monhan. I heard you're doing some of the translation for Urban Legend in Limbo, so I want to ask you regarding the translation for that.

I've found a site that extracted all the story dialogues, so do you mind if I edit those all into the wiki?

I'd also like to help with the translations if you don't mind, but I think it's best if we divide the workload and not bump into each other. How do you think we should do it?

Monhan (talk) 08:12, 13 May 2015 (UTC) monhan

Oh!! :O Yes, putting the dialogues in would be a HUGE help; having to assemble all the wiki formatting usually takes me the longest time. And any help with the translation would be greatly appreciated, yes. If you want to work separately, just go ahead and work on the sections you want and I'll try to stay out of your way. Thanks in advance! Gilde (talk) 16:55, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Alright, then I'll first work on putting all the Japanese texts there, and do the template formatting.

About the characters, which one you're currently working on? I'd like to do Ichirin, Byakuren, Miko, Kokoro, and Shinmyoumaru for now. I'd like to avoid doing Futo as much as possible, since I don't think I can do very well with that old accent of her.

Monhan (talk) 17:15, 13 May 2015 (UTC)monhan

Great! That actually works out quite well, since, uh... even though I was planning to just do the stories in order, I was less enthused about doing the Myouren and Mausoleum cast, since they're not as closely linked to the game's main plot. (; ._.) So, like, it's really great that you have an interest in doing those ones! Thanks again for all the help. Gilde (talk) 17:32, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Looks like I got ninja'd from putting the dialogues there. Well, that means I can just get on with translating it.

Monhan (talk) 06:55, 15 May 2015 (UTC)monhan

"一寸法師にも五分の魂" is currently translated as "One-Inch Samurai with Five Times as Much Soul"... shouldn't it be a "Half-Inch Soul"? Also makes in-game sense as Sukuna actually becomes smaller. Bbbbbbbbba (talk) 06:42, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Oh! Oh my goodness, you're completely right. That's a really embarassing mistake on my part; gonna fix it now. Gilde (talk) 08:44, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Reisen' spell cards[edit]

Hi Gilde! I was under the impression that for Reisen's spell cards, the katakana in parentheses after the kanji was meant to give an "appropriate reading" to the string of kanji. Granted, some of them don't perfectly match up with the actual kanji used, but I think a lot of the time the kanji don't form actual words anyway, and they're being used solely for their meaning. ― Darkslime 13:14, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Oh, yeah, I did know that. Several of the cards already had the kanji section added to the translated name well before I got to them, so I figured I'd fill in the gaps for the rest. If the general consensus is to exclude them, I'll go with that. --Gilde (talk) 18:33, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Riverbed Soul Saver[edit]

Hi! First of all, thanks a lot for your help with Mystical Power Plant before (it made it possible to produce English translation patch) and recent help with Riverbed Soul Saver. I have plans to try making translation patch for RSS too but I can't deal with actual translation myself (no skills in Japanese) so I have to rely on those who can help with this matter. So, I'd really appreciate if you could check text for endings and upcoming Futo/Miko scenario with Extra stage when the time comes. Thank you! Necrotek (talk) 21:27, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

No problem! I'm always happy to help. The Extra Stage is planned for release in just a day or two; I hope to get working on it as soon as I can! Gilde (talk) 03:18, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you :) I hope you'll find time to translate remaining texts.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to press on you, there is no hurry for them right now. It's just that when I was dealing with MPP, it was quite difficult to find people to get help with remaining texts. And it might be difficult to contact you when you have breaks on visiting wiki. So I hope to avoid this kind of situations.
Anyway, have a nice day! Necrotek (talk) 08:12, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind words. :> And don't worry, I'm not feeling pressured. Translating stuff is really fun! I'll admit that I haven't had as much free time for it as I used to lately, but I ought to have more time around winter break. I hope your work on the patch goes well! Gilde (talk) 05:26, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Yay, thank you a lot for completing translation! Lately I was busy with other project but should continue RSS quite soon :) Necrotek (talk) 21:07, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much.^_^[edit]

At last, progress has been made in translating White Names Spoiled Past. I rather appreciate that you took the time to translate the first part of Reimu & Tokubi's scenario. I am Risa. Best of fortune be with you. (talk) 15:34, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

How to: categories.[edit]

Hi there. I made my account 1 or 2 weeks ago. I have been uploading the spell card images for Fairies of Sorcery, i have all the images in my computer, i'll upload them all later. Now, can you give some help in making a category and then edit it? I have HotCat for some pages, but i want to directly edit the category page so i can add the pages in bulk. Thanks MapleTree (talk) 22:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi! I think it's really great that you're helping out with the spell card images. :) I'm sort of an amateur when it comes to wiki editing in general, though, let alone file categories, so I probably don't know much more about this than you do... Judging by the results of a quick Google search, there's no function in MediaWiki itself that can add several files to a category at once, but externally-run programs like this one seem to work well. It might also be a good idea to ask one of the wiki administrators? Gilde (talk) 07:03, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

WNSP[edit]

Hi there. I see that you are the original creator of quite a share of spell card pages of various games. Can i request you to add White Names Spoiled Past/Spell Cards/Overdrive so i can upload the graphics? I tried to dig the danmakufu pages but couldn't tell apart what (or where) the spell card names are. I had that game resting on my desktop for some months and i want to end it and move it elsewhere.MapleTree (talk) 00:49, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Done! Sorry I didn't do that before now. The screenshots look great, by the way! Gilde (talk) 02:22, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

A question regarding translations.[edit]

Hi Gilde. I was wondering, I've put a question up on Talk:Dream World and I was hoping someone like you could clarify this? I need it answered so I can add some info of LoLK's Dream World to the wiki with correct translations. Any reply will be much appreciated, cheers :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 13:18, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Proper noun translation[edit]

Hi Gilde :) I've got another favour to ask. I've managed to find that the name for this place is "幽明結界", but I'm struggling to translate it. I know the last two mean 'Barrier', but I can't get any clear description of the first two. Any reply will be much appreciated :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 22:53, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Heyo! No problem. From what I've looked up, 幽明 refers to the afterlife (幽: faint/dark/ghostly etc) and the mortal world (明: light/bright etc). (quick example from an online dictionary) It's also present in Youmu's spell cards "魂符「幽明の苦輪」" and "魂魄「幽明求聞持聡明の法」". So, it'd be the barrier of... "the mortal realm and hereafter"? "Now and hereafter"? "Mortal realm and afterlife"? Along those lines. Kind of a mouthful when you put it like that, though, so something simple like "Barrier of Life & Death" could be a good option too. There's plenty of words for the concepts in English, so feel free to go with what you think is best!
(Also if anyone knows more about the word in question feel free to correct me on any of that) Gilde (talk) 23:45, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

TH15 Translations[edit]

Hello. I've noticed that you have done a lot of great work translating the scenarios on this wiki. I was wondering if you would mind helping out translating the endings and other translatable contents over at https://thpatch.net/wiki/Touhou_Patch_Center. Thank you for your great work and consideration. --DTM (talk) 22:23, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

About the music room for RSS[edit]

I mean Riverbed Soul Saver here. Hey, I don't know where do you find YOUR texts for the 2 songs in extra, but it's surely DIFFERENT from the official version, EVEN THE FIRST VERSION(1.00c, first appending extra)! Could you just tell me where did you get the texts?

Sth. just done before me-------------------------------

Alright as the music room is changed before I could manage to get an account......It' just alright.--Ecauchy (talk) 06:04, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

ULiL proofreadings and on Mamizou[edit]

Hello! Like I mentioned, I appreciated the proofreading you did on my revisions on Sumireko's versus-quotes. I don't know if you have been keeping tabs on me at all, but I think it would be really helpful for me if you could check on my other versus-quote revisions as well! It's very much a work in progress naturally, and it would help to have other people's input. In case you have read the revisions and not found any errors/typos/misses, then that would also be nice to know, either on here or on the related talk page!

Secondly, I have yet to touch any of Mamizou's dialogue, and the reason is because I had been planning to flavor her speech to match her Japanese. Since she has pretty much the strongest speech tick out of all characters, I thought it would be appropriate to retranslate her dialogue similarly to how Futo's and Marisa's speech has been localized. However, before I go about this, I would like to talk to some other users on here perhaps, get some input before I start working. My idea for now would be to make her talk using 20's slang, what do you think about that idea? I think it might emulate some of the feeling her Japanese has, since as far as I can understand she speaks the way the current grandparent generation does.

I am still new here and do not really know anyone, but since you reached out to me I thought I should consult you for starters. When the time comes for me to have written a draft and/or started making some edits to Mamizou's ULiL dialogue here on the Wiki, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

dialogues[edit]

were you gonna do aya/marisa cause i see you literally just finished cirno and i was about to start working again too

Ok, I started doing Aya's. You can head the translation once I'm done formatting if you want. Drake Irving (talk) 04:45, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

TH16 Translations[edit]

Hi Gilde! Great job with the translations! I was wondering if you are working on the Marisa Main Scenario as Clarste just recently finished translating that on https://www.thpatch.net and I was wondering if you mind us copying and pasting that onto here.

Also, we would love to have you help with translations on https://www.thpatch.net, including endings and the like and we would happily invite you over. --DTM (talk) 00:29, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Oh hi!! Looks like I saw this right as I did the thing you were asking :V
I would love to help out on the thpatch wiki too; thank you very much for the offer. I might not get to work immediately (I'm juggling several things that I'm doing and/or planning on doing rn), but there's a bunch of stuff I'd like to help with once I get down to it. :) Gilde (talk) 00:49, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
There is absolutely no rush! Feel free to also join the thpatch discord if you want to talk. Thanks for your work! --DTM (talk) 01:02, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

AFiEU book edit[edit]

Heya,
I am currently working on a full book edit of Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia: https://imgur.com/a/8C1vo
Work is progressing smoothly, but I won't be able to finish it as long as the rest of the articles are still left untranslated. Would you be interested in helping out with the final translation touches and proofreading? --Splashman (blub) (talk) 16:52, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

Translation request[edit]

Um, hi there. I understand you likely have things that occupy your time, but I was wondering if, sometime after HSoB is done, you could work on Tri Focuser's scenario whenever you are available for that?
I am Risa. Best of fortune be with you. (talk) 08:33, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
OH DANG HI, YEAH, I can totally do that, sorry for leaving it so long. I can have it done in a couple days tops (have other stuff to do tomorrow but after that I'm totally free). Whenever I leave a TL thing unfinished like this it's literally just because I procrastinated too long and forgot about the poor thing, so you super don't have to feel bad about reminding me. In fact I really appreciate the reminder!! Thank you! Gilde (talk) 04:43, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
No problem then! <3
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 07:21, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
Have a reminder about Hollow Song of Birds?

Ah right thanks! I'll be on it withinnnn the next 24 hours 👍(.. ) Gilde (talk) 03:27, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Chen's Cards and Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream[edit]

Hey, Gilde. Ennin here. I've seen that you've changed some of my edits. Well, most of them are fine and could go either way, I don't really mind. But one that bothers me is changing back to "Leaping Layered Scales" instead of "Leaping Uroko Star". I consulted with most at the Touhouwiki Discord to make that edit. I provided evidence and reasoning and everyone agreed to that translation. It seems you haven't joined the channel (you should, it's really great to communicate with your fellow editors and the staff). Anyway, Kasane-Uroko is one of the names of one of the versions of the Hojo Family's crests. It's shaped like a star so we used "Leaping Uroko Star" instead of the more literal "layered scales". Mitsu-uroko is the progenitor of all the Hojo clan's crests (they have multiple, if you didn't know). This change was made with the confidence of the staff. So was "Space Time Dream" for PoDD. Please consider consulting with the rest of the editors before making uninformed changes. It would really be helpful if you joined the channel. For now I will undo those two edits, they were correct the way they were before and were supported by a number of respected members in the Discord channel.

Hollow Song of Birds[edit]

Since you said you like reminders, could you translate this game’s dialog whenever able?

Boop?

Doing okay?
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 18:22, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm doing good! :) Thanks for the reminders. I'm planning to translate Sakuya's scenario and go over Kaguya's in the next day or so. Hope you're doing good too! Gilde (talk) 03:56, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Great, thanks!

Hoi. (Also, in light of FDF II, could you have a look at the first part's lorestuff?)
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 06:27, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks once again; I'll have Sakuya's scenario done today. Regarding FDF, I'm not actually fluent in Chinese; short phrases like most spell cards and music titles are easy enough with the use of several dictionaries, but when it comes to the dialogue and story profiles I'm not the best person to ask. (;; ^^) Sorry. (The first game's plot is pretty simple from what I've gathered, though, so I can probably explain at least the gist of it if that's what you're looking for.) Gilde (talk) 02:27, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Hey. As someone who’s been procrastinating on the original FDF’s translations for god-knows-how-long, feel free to collaborate with me for anything you need help on. (I don’t really login to the wiki that often, though.)
DarkPermafrost (talk) 08:24, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Strange Creators & question[edit]

I’d like to make a translation request for the magazine whenever you’re able. Also, are you in touch with someone who can extract dialog, so that Glory of Deep Skies can be read here?
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 06:52, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
I'd be happy to translate any Strange Creators articles you like! Due to the sheer volume of material, though (and other stuff I'm currently engaged with like GoM, plus GoU once it's out in a few days), it'd be a big help if you could specify any particular articles you'd like to see done first. ( ・u・)/
I can also get the Glory of Deep Skies dialogue posted p. easily, seeing as I worked on the game myself. 👍 Gilde (talk) 22:06, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
I appreciate it. I think chronological order would probably be best, but the smaller "Who's Who" articles I'd like to see especially.

Reminder about this. ^^
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 19:12, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
Ah, right. I'll get on that now; thanks again ( ・▽・)/ Gilde (talk) 04:39, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you too. :3
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 04:41, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the work on Strange Creators thus far. Could you help add to GoDS too in between?
Yet another name! That's always fun. (talk) 12:54, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you once again for the reminder! Apologies for the delay; I'll have the GoDS dialogue posted by tomorrow. Gilde (talk) 04:58, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
No problem.
