Hi Pooshlmer -- we are excited to have Touhou Wiki as part of the Wikia community!

Starting a new wiki can be overwhelming, but don't worry, the Wikia Community Team is here to help! We have put together a few guides to getting started. They say imitation is the best form of flattery so absolutely check out other wikis on Wikia for ideas on layout, ways to organize your content, etc. We are all one big family at Wikia and the most important thing is to have fun!

  • Our guide to Getting Started gives you 5 things you can do right now to set your wiki up for success
  • We also put together some Advice On Starting a Wiki which provides a more a in-depth look at some of the important things you should consider when building a wiki
  • If you are new to wikis in general than we recommend checking our new user FAQ

If you need help (which trust me we ALL do) you can access our full in-depth help at Help Wikia, or email us through our contact form. Also, you can visit our live #wikia chat channel any time. A lot of the veteran "Wikians" hang out here so its a good place if come if you want to get some advice or simply make friends.

Now, go edit! We look forward to seeing this project thrive!

Best wishes, Catherine Munro <staff />

Hi there!

I'm Richard1990. I'm a Helper who specializes in Gaming Wikis. I want to cheer you on for having started a new gaming-related wiki, and see if there is anything I can help a fellow Wikian with. So if you need help with any thing, don't hesitate to ask!

I've got some tips for you here:

  • Main Page protection – Wikia has a general policy of not protecting the Main Page unless it is the target of recurring heavy vandalism. For more info, check out Help:Main page on Wikia Help.
  • Your user page – Use your user page to introduce yourself to other new visitors, so the wiki has a more personal feeling to it and luring visitors to stay and become involved. People without a userpage do not get listed in the "Featured users" listing no matter how active they are, so make sure you add something to your user page to appear in there!
  • Wikia Gaming IRC – There is a Wikia gaming IRC channel, #wikia-gaming, where you can hop on, ask for help from users of other gaming wikis, or offer your own experiences. You can access it from http://irc.wikia.com/gaming, or connect to it by your own client at irc://irc.freenode.net/wikia-gaming. Different people may be on sporadically, though you're free to ask them for any help. There's also a weekly chat in the channel every Sunday to ask or answer questions or just to hang out. The admins of some of Wikia's biggest gaming wikis (WoW, Halo, RuneScape, and others) often attend them. You can find the time for the next chat by following this link. I've also included a template below to show when the next chat will be.

{{w:Next gaming IRC chat}}

Again, if you have any question for anything at all, don't hesitate to ask me!--Richard 23:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome tool

Hi Pooshlmer -- I saw that you disabled the welcome tool last week. We recently upgraded the tool to allow for some more customization, so it's possible that something that you didn't like about it may have been fixed. Can you tell me what you thought about the welcomes? What made you want to turn it off? It's not a problem; I just want to see if there's a way I can help. -- Danny<staff /> (talk) 03:07, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

It was spamming the Recent Changes page, which is mainly what I use to keep an eye on things. I guess that wouldn't last, but it was really annoying all the same. Plus it was welcoming EVERYONE. Pooshlmer 03:43, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Secondly, if I may add, it also makes it more difficult to tell at a glance whether there's any significant content on each user's user page or discussion page to be read. As it is, if the link is red, I know there's nothing relevant there, but the welcome tool was turning all those links blue without adding anything of interest.
(On an almost unrelated note, while I'm at it, might as well remind Pooshlmer to clear out the "Pages for deletion" category sometime. That eq2i article has been tagged for deletion for over a year, now.) -- Winane 04:49, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Maybe the biggest problem is that wikia provided welcome pages for all the first-editer, both of registrants & IP address. The pages for all the IP-address peope are very needless, wasteful, in vain. If IP-address peope edit, it's enough just to show them tiny message of solicit in the screen of completing an edit. And, you know, the same IP address can be used by various people. It's quite odd, I think. --Masuo64 12:57, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay, good to talk to you guys about this stuff. I just switched User:Wikia to a bot, so if you turn the welcome tool back on, it won't spam Recent changes anymore.
The idea of welcoming everyone is that we want to be nice and welcoming to everyone. This has been turned on across Wikia for almost a week, and I've seen lots of really nice responses -- people are really happy to get the welcome, and reach out when they have questions. Otherwise, we're just ignoring people who have taken the trouble to make an edit.
It's true that IP addresses change -- that's something that the automated system is helping with. If you wait a long time before writing to an IP contributor, then it's likely that the IP has changed. The welcome tool leaves them a welcome right away, while they're still on the site. That message encourages people to create an account and sign in -- and we've seen lots of people creating accounts because they get the message.
So this can be a really powerful tool to encourage contributors to sign in and stick around. Is there something else that I can do that would make you interested in turning it back on? -- Danny<staff /> (talk) 19:10, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Seems odd for the bot to be welcoming users who have already made tons of edits here. Anyway, instead of plunking some copypasta onto each user's talk page, why not make the welcome message visible only to the user being welcomed (since it's pretty much irrelevant to everyone else)? I might be misremembering, but isn't there already a mechanism like that in place for delivering messages to users, which they can then dismiss after reading the message? Why not just tweak that system a little to use as a welcoming mechanism? And secondly, instead of immediately plunking a template onto every new user's user page, why not simply add an easily-noticeable option to insert that template the first time the user tries to edit their user page, or perhaps simply fill in the text editing box with the template by default at that time? -- Winane 05:03, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

FYI: I just got a "Welcoming new contributor" email today even though I have been making edits since before you guys moved to Wikia.Lobotomoy 15:11, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

The welcome tool leaves a message for everybody who makes an edit and has a red-link talk page. If there are folks who have been editing for a long time and nobody's talked to them on their talk page yet, then they're going to get a welcome the next time they come back to edit the wiki. Luckily, that's a one-time thing -- once they get that message, there'll be something on their talk page, and they won't get another. -- Danny<staff /> (talk) 00:27, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
If you go to your uncle's homeland, where you went 10 years ago and haven't been for a while, and you are given a message from his old friend "Welcome! I tell ye now what ye shall da hier! First ye shall go t' that great office..," then what will you feel? You should want to be given "No time long see! Welcome back again!" At least it's not gentle or clever. --Masuo64 02:48, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Translation

Hello Pooshlmer,

I already asked to wikia staff, but i think it's better to ask you directly since you are the admin of this wiki. Touhou is a japanese phenomen who speads outside the japanese country thanks to person like you (Imageboard/Wiki...). For this, i'm very grateful to you.

Now i have a request, i'd like to help that, i'm a native french speaker, and i think that Touhou is still not very known in France.

I would like to make a sort of copy and a translation of this wiki, but before that i'd like to have your authorisation. I already know that wikia is under GFDL and i'm free to do it, but if you don't want your work to be taken like this, i understand and won't do it.

Thanks in advance.

Hakkai - 89.2.193.187 21:54, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

That's fine. Pooshlmer 21:55, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
That's a very fast response. Thanks a lot. Hakkai - 89.2.193.187 22:19, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Touhou Movie

Hi pooshlmer. I need some help with one Touhou anime, meaningly Touhou Kinema Kan. I would be glad if someone could translate it (yt link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4bW4Fdt-uA) with lyrics. Thanks in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.15.136.242 (talkcontribs) 15:59, April 22, 2009 (UTC)

Allowed file extensions

Could you please add .rep, .zip, .rar, and .7z to the list of file extensions allowed for upload? --Winane 06:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Okay, now that Help:Uploading files is no longer a dead link, I see that Wikia never allows ZIP files due to "security reasons", and I'd assume they'd have the same policy for any other archive formats. Well, dang, I was hoping to upload a few Shoot the Bullet replay packs (no way I'm going to upload over 100 replay files individually), but I guess I'll just have to use something like MediaFire or some other web host instead. However, could you please put in a request to have .rep (for Tasofro, Touhou Soujiki, ENDLESS ALICE, and Phosphorus Hesitates Song replays), .dat (for Danmakufu, Samidare, Moedan, and Hollow World of God replays, plus Gensokyo Tower Defense custom maps), .srp (for Patchouli replays), and .mpd (for ENDLESS ALICE custom maps) added to the list of allowable file extensions? I don't currently have any need for those myself, but some others might want to upload some of those. (Dunno if the request needs to come from a wiki admin, but I'm guessing it'd slightly improve the odds of success.) --Winane 02:43, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pooshlmer. I was wondering if you had a lost link to Scarlet Weather Rhapsody lying around somewhere. I was looking around for the full version but all the links are gone. One of my friends recommended I ask you about it. So, if you find one can I please have it? I've watched a lot of game play and I want to play it myself. Thanks in advanced! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.36.234 (talkcontribs) 22:42, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Greetings

Hi dude,

well, I red the whole Sinner in blue Manga, and i fixed some of the mistakes that were taken as facts for Reimu, also i could like make comment that the song "im on a Boat" is mentioned that "they will try to get to the moon". AquaLiger 23:51, October 14, 2009 (UTC)AquaLiger

What?

I don't remember editing anything at all. My memory is poor. I know you left a note on my IP page.. but to let you know, while I appreciate the thought, I probably won't register, as I fear I'll forget about it in weeks. I don't consider myself common enough to warrant making an account. 24.72.142.199 21:56, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Question about downloading TH 10.5 and 12.3

Hi, Pooshlmer

I'm still slightly new to the Touhou franchise and I absolutely love it. I have a few questions though. Recently, I've been trying to download Scarlet Weather Rhapsody onto my computer, though I'm only getting the demo version and I'm currently searching for a link to the full version. However, I'm not exactly computer savvy enough to find out what files need to be put in what folders. I've visited the SWRS Wiki and downloaded all the files on the page, but the issue is just organizing them in the proper method to have everything completely functional. Could you point me in the right directions as to how I can get SWR working fine? If there is the full version of it floating somewhere on the Internet, could you pointr me in that direction, as well? Also, could you inform me of how exactly does one put the Touhou Hisoutensoku on and get it to function? I know it's a lot to ask, but I really woulfd like to get things rolling in my experiences with the games. --Pakkuman 13:29, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Hello there

Well, I'm Nanashi_1337. It would help me if you could tell me how to add the formulas for the character's attacks, and from what points to what points the base stats are ranked in the Touhou Labyrinth Character's Database. Thanks in advance.

I may also add anything important that is put in the pooshlmer about this game. If I have enough patience to beat it again ;)

I don't know, ask on one of the talk pages there. - Pooshlmer 21:49, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

Looking for approval to add to bottom of front page

Hi, I'm Devilmanozzy from Darius Wiki and I am seeking approval to add a Wikia Shmups footer to the bottom of the main page of Touhou wiki below Wikia Game Footer. Likewise, if the footer is added Touhou wikia will be added to the other wikis footers. Here is what the footer looks like (Click Here). Devilmanozzy (Talk Page) 10:39, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

All right. - Pooshlmer 17:59, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

Unnamed Characters Question

Hi, I'm Pretztailfan95. I have a question about unnamed characters... As you can see, Rengeteki has been changed to Nameless Midboss Fairy. Now, I have a problem with this. Rengeteki has become quite popular...she even has a Create.swf...I feel like I'm repeating myself too much...I posted that on the talk page for Unnamed Characters as well... But, since you're like...a staff here, I'd like your opinion. Should Rengeteki stay as "Nameless Midboss Fairy" with the name fans have given her as a fun fact, or should she still be "Rengeteki"? I'm sorry if I'm sounding like I'm complaining, but I believe she deserves some recognition since she's become more noticed... --Pretztailfan95 00:25, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

NSFW deletion request

Images on Reimu's, Watatsuki no Toyohime's, Watatsuki no Yorihime's, and Alice's page have been vandalized by porn recently. I'm hoping that I can ask you to delete any trace of said porn ever existing please. !8RstuPId2Y 04:15, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Where?
Basically everything this guy uploaded.--Umhyuk 04:22, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
Some example like this - KyoriAsh 04:24, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
Ugh...do you mind reuploading the image? The easiest way is to nuke the whole file.
Never mind, I got it.
That should be it, tell me if there are any more. Pooshlmer 04:46, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
Many thanks, admin. !8RstuPId2Y 04:52, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

How to add lyrics?

What have I got to do to add lyrics to a song? I mean, there's a song in a songlist and I want to add lyrics, how to make the link and create the new page with the lyrics? (Sorry for my english if is bad, I'm Italian...)

Edit the page of the CD and copy the format for other songs with lyrics. For example, Dial Connected is a link to Dial Connected lyrics. When you make the link, go back to the page and click the link to start editing the new page.

reporting someone

I don't know if you're admin...if not please forgive me. There is this guy on Rikako Asakura's page that keeps adding a fun fact that is insignificant. Jigglypuff and I disagreed on it and he still adding it regardless. It's been going on for a day...so please can you deal with him? If you're not admin...direct me to one if you please. Thank you MaronaPossessed 19:28, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your everyday proper administration.
It makes you labor again, but these days there's a problem about the same account as mentioned above, on the page of Rikako Asakura, and of his/her User page. Sometimes problems might come after edits, but how many times s/he edited that page is extraordinary and, on my view, his/her edits are reluctant; comment about resemblance of appearance with a character having virtually no relation. No reasonable explanation has been done by him/her, so I suspect s/he might enjoy the edit war deliberately. So if you decide it's necessary, I request that account be restricted or banned. I thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your reading this! --Masuo64 17:27, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Add a comic

Hello, I would like to add a comic but I don't know where I am suppose to do it. The author is colonel_aki, I don't know if he work in a group. He add his work freely on pixiv. They are visual 4koma that don't need to be translate. Where and how do I send the comic? AB2531 06:58, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

Add a link on the Comics page.

Lyrics Edit

Hello, I've tried to edit a post for Lyrics: 宿題が終わらないっ!But it didn't save my changes. Would you like me to send you the original lyrics so somebody on your admin team can add/translate it?

The page is open, perhaps you didn't click save? If you don't provide an edit summary, you have to click save twice.
Actually, they did save. You can see them here: [1]. I moved those lyrics to their respective page here. 68.84.74.52 19:14, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed logo for the new skin

Here. Upload it in place of the old logo.
BTW, could you give sysop powers to some users ? You seem to be too inactive/busy to be taking care of this wiki alone. I'm an experienced wiki editor, so I think I could help you. Master Bigode 15:53, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

What functions require immediate action?
I find Category:Spammers to be pretty pointless without someone to block those vandals at least as soon as they are reported. It's looks pretty messy too, and could use some clean up. IMO, every IP there should be checked, and the inactive vandals should be removed from the list. Category:Candidates for deletion should be (carefully) looked at and cleaned-up as well. hey there i was thinking about creating a page for my character and im asking for permission for it do u think u could approve it?

If it is fan created you'll have to make it really popular first. You can put random things on your user page though. Pooshlmer 19:37, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Changing the site title of the old wiki

Hello, could you change the title of the wikia wiki to Touhou Wiki (old wiki) ? The guys in charge of the nethack wiki managed to do that without wikia intervention, so it would probably be good way to make it clear to googlers that we've moved. Master Bigode 15:33, 12 December 2010 (PST)

Do you know where that is? Pooshlmer 18:11, 13 December 2010 (PST)
I don't know, but if I were to guess, it should probably be somewhere in the theme designer page. Master Bigode 19:50, 13 December 2010 (PST)
http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Pagetitle Chloe 21:08, 13 December 2010 (PST)
It appears one more important edit may be required: http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Pagetitle-view-mainpage Chloe 15:56, 14 December 2010 (PST)

Sarah has reverted the changes to both pages... Just discretely change it back later. Changing this wiki's site title to "(new) Touhou Wiki" or something of the sort could a be good idea too. Master Bigode 18:54, 15 December 2010 (PST)

I would argue though that (Old) is a perfectly valid descriptive term, and is necessary to indicate that a split has occurred and to not confuse the two wikis. The last two iterations of this wiki has been called "Touhou Wiki", under the guidance of Pooshlmer, and thus this one will remain as "Touhou Wiki". The burden of name change lies on the old wiki should they choose to remain online (under a possibly new admin). EDIT: Would tacking on (Wikia version) be palatable? NSFW raid on image board

Ok I've tried to contact you via email and now I'm contacting you here hoping to get a responds. I wanted to inform you that you're board is pretty much being invaded by a lot of NSFW material. Think you'll get around to fixing it?

Also any chance you still look at your emails as well? I did have a question to ask regarding your board as well. -Totaku Oct 31th, 2012

403 Forbidden?

As I haven't found absolutely no way to contact anyone related to Pooshlmer other than this page, I guess I have no options left other than asking why is it that I've been getting a 403 error whenever I try to visit Pooshlmer for some time over a month. Was the only way to stop that spammer rangebanning an entire region or something like that? Is there anything I can do to get access to Pooshlmer again? Zurren (talk) 11:52, 4 January 2013 (EST)
