About the random fact in Magical Astronomy

The reason I was so focused in removing a "Fun fact" in there is not because I was angry that someone said "Fun fact: Renko is wrong, lol" but because I'm really scared of precedents. I agree that arguing about adding or not a simple correction/fun fact or whatever you want to call it is ridiculous, even more knowing is just 1 out of 3, as you pointed it out. However, I was scared of someone coming to these type of pages and start filling it with random/fun facts about something that doesn't need them and, when questioned, start arguing saying "What's wrong? You didn't seem to care when this one was added here".

However, after thinking it for more time, I realized that if this happened it wouldn't be valid to consider this little fact a precedent as more aspects would be considered than just "there is one right here". So I'll just undo my removal and either use yours or the original one. PassingStrike (talk) 09:26, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Yes, I figured you weren't so mad about that particular fact. All three of the facts I added are things that other wiki editors/translators have brought up to me when discussing Magical Astronomy's prior translation; I also agree that setting a precedent would be unwise. For example, even though the history of the wasei "cafe terrace" in Japanese is interesting, and a cafe terrace is where the story is set, that would be a completely useless fact to add to the story. I think it's worthwhile thinking about these things. (There are things that are quite story relevant like the lycoris radiata mention in R53M that ties back to the mention back in Ghostly Field Club that I wouldn't add a note for, either; that comes a bit too close to "explaining the story".)

Either way, I'm glad we can come to an agreement. Unfortunately, the space for explaining edits on this wiki could do with being twice the size, since talk pages are pretty underutilized. Cheers! Sukimas (talk) 15:16, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
